Rule of thumb is to match the length of the bump stop extension to the height of the lift. So generally, you would need to add 3".

Sorry to complicate things, but I suggest your read this thread:

https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modified-jk-tech-2/bump-stop-question-should-go-faq-53397/

Then it will be clear as mud. I was thinking of asking contributors to that thread to declare if they were rep or dem's, maybe that might explain the wild differences of opinions!

NO NO NO!

That "rule of thumb" is way WAY too conservative.

That link is a good one to read, but skip to my summary at the end so your head doesn't explode.

We had a lot of opinions, but only a few facts.

I can't tell what you are saying here....?

If it compressed fully, where did the two more inches plus come from?

If the coil is stacked, so that all the coils are touching, so its like a solid metal tube, THAT's fully compressed...its hard to compress after its a solid tube if you know what I mean....unless it then bows out to one side, so your "tube" is now a elbow shape, etc...

Can you explain this a bit more?
