Bumpers .... love / hate ?????
The front bumper thread is great lot of info.
I would say start with width. Decide if you want a stubby, mid or full width.
Then options such as hoops, stingers, winch mounting, fog light ( reuse oem fogs ) light tabs for offroad/driving lights.
As an example this was my thought process.
1. Stubby
2. Needed winch/grill protect
3. Reuse the oem fogs
4. Winch mount between frame rails/ winch plate provisions
5. Protection for Dico Moter
6. Quality and looks.
7. Reasonable cost/value
= LOD Stubby in black powder coat with winch hoop and front skid.
A mix of analytical resaoning and just gota have it thinking will help you eventually pick.
Good Luck, there are a lot of choices and a lot of options.

Funny...just stumbled on this thread as I was about to post a ? regarding a M.O.R.E. "RockProof" front stubby bumper. I love the design on this one, but be warned...it comes finished, but unpainted. Not too big a deal for me. I like the Fab Fours bumper too, but wanted a stubby that reused the stock fogs, and had that great "double" bull bar design.....It's perfect (for me)...BUT...and I hope I'm not Hijackin' the thread here, they say it won't fit the Warn Powerplant HP the misses got me for X-mas (I "found" the reciept ;-)...so I'm wondering, does anyone know this bumper....or have this winch and can tell me why it "won't fit"?? Can I cut/grind out some extra space on the bumper to accomadate the mounting of said winch?
By the way KSJeep226....Here's the link to their site and pics of the bumper mounted to a JK.

I'm about to order up the Mopar brackets, two 8" Soltek HID's for the pillars and 4 Fuego HID's (2wide drivers and 2 focused drivers) for the bull bars...
Will post when all on sometime around the new year....

like wiredawg_mg said, you really need to decide what kind of terrain you play on and what all you will need it to do. for me, i like to play on the rocks and so maximum approach angle is what i want in a bumper. in other words, i prefer a stubby bumper. also, i have and love my warn powerplant and some bumpers like the aev will not allow you to install it. needless to say, it's a good idea to make sure you verify whatever winch you hope to be running will work with your bumper before you buy it.

It is purely a matter of need. What kind of riding do you do? Do you want function with looks? Do you need "rock crushing" strength? Do you want mud-running weight? Do you want a winch on top, or inside of the bumper? Soooo many choices out there. I know for a fact that many people have purchased bumpers, only to change them out again. Just ask me about the three CJ bumpers and the 2 JK bumpers. So if you don't get the one you want the first time, wait, you'll want another later anyway.
