Did the same thing. Also used wet rags to cool off the metal as well, as those axles hold heat for a long time.

Just had mine done the other day. Labor was 135 and a total of 225 for everything. I had a local Jeep shop order mine from off road evolution.

Here in NM the shop prices are either ridiculously outrageous or you have to wonder if they can even do it... Got mine done at one of the larger well known shops, Was quoted $150 for uppers only parts and labor. When I went to pick up I ended up paying about $250. Needless to say it was the last time I went to any shop I'd rather spend the money on tools.

Yea I hear you, I called 4x4 shops around ABQ, NM where I live and they wanted to pull ball joints instead of soak them. They quoted me something ridiculous like $500. I looked on CL and found a mobile certified welder with 25 years of experience. He came to my place and only cost me $100 and some beer afterwards. He took his time and we soaked ball joints with wet rags every few minutes to keep things cool.

Wow, that's a good idea. Didn't know that was possible. Thanks for sharing.

I got the C's together with LCA skids F/R done for $150. I was charged for 1.5 hours of labour. However, I did have a quote for $800 (8 hour labour) to do this job, which is...

It pays to shop around. Don't just walk in into the 1st shop you see. A lot of them will just take you for a ride, if you do.

I had the evo upper and lowers welded on for $110 and that included pressing in and out the ball joints to make sure they didn't get too hot.

I got quotes from $290-500 and then a friend recommended this 4x4 shop I had never heard of as it was an hour away from me and they did a damn good job

Default I do have 35" tire(2.5" lift) about a 3 weeks ago, shall i get this done?

Hello experienced, I need advice.
I have 2010MY JKU AT(3.73 axle), and each tire and wheel weighs 87 lb.
Do I need to get this done?

If I need to get this done, do I need this for front and rear?

Seems cheap welders are around $100~200 range, similar to cost of getting it done.
Shall I learn to use it and DIY?
(Being capable of welding seems to be a plus for Jeeper)
