Default C02 Tank Thoughts

So Powertanks kit is overpriced almost 600 for the basic kit...Shittybuilt is 300 for there kit but have heard negative reviews....My thoughts buy a tank from airgas ($150 15lb) and a fixed 150psi regulator for 30...So I would be in it 180ish...Can a fixed regulator freeze like adjustable. Im not worried about looks or aesthetics just functionality...What are your opinions...I will still run my arb for my lockers and backup air....

You just want to get a fixed regulator that is designed for CO2. There are a couple out there for around $50. There is a small guy making them for a good price. Instant Air Supply. Not a terrible price. Or, he sells the regulator for $52.

The none powertank regulators definitely slow up after a couple tires. I've filled 4 37s and 4 35s without stopping and it didn't freeze completely (75 degrees in the summer). Not enough to bother me. I can usually air up my 40s now before someone with a compressor even gets one tire done. Although, I also have monster valves (second favorite mod I've ever done, btw).

I have a home made tank set up that's about 10 years old. Used a tank from a local co2 supply and a 150psi regulator. At that time I think I had about $125 into the set up. Filled hundreds of tires with it over the years. Even filled my 37's and a couple rigs 35's no issues after my last wheeling trip even though it iced over but doesn't stop working or have any issues I can detect. Just make sure you use air line rated for 150psi, obviously.

At this point I would say buying a Powertank is just throwing away money.

so a couple things.....
I've built quite a few of these for club members and for what poly performance sells them for is almost at cost when all said and done.
POLY PERFORMANCE // Poly Performance CO2 Kit

If you still want to make your own
10 lb. Aluminum Co2 Tank | BeverageFactory.com
POLY PERFORMANCE // Poly Performance CO2 Fixed Regulator
fittings and hoses can be bought at your local hardware store for about 40.00

That poly kit is a very nice option. It even includes a mounting bracket which I don't have for my 10 year old homemade one I'm still using my 10 year old bungee cords, lol

+1 on the poly kit. that seems like a nice economical option (relatively speaking). i dont mind my arb dual compressor for filling up my tires, but it would be nice to have something to run an impact with on the trail.

I ran the poly regulator before I traded my CO2 bottle for an Argon bottle. It works great.

Ditto.

I use them when my tank is empty, or I'm not in a hurry, and am airing up off the compressor. Makes a difference over the standard schrader valve.
