With fall approaching and us actually having a few nice days in a row down here in So. Louisiana, I've been riding topless more often, but because my jeep lives outside of our garage, it means I have to put it back up every evening or I'm welcomed by a completely wet seat in the morning. Been looking into getting a "cab cover" that would be quicker and easier to get on and off. My concern is getting one that functions to keep the wet off the seats. I've read up on a few and reviews on shop sites always tend to trend toward the negative.

Any of you have first hand experience with these? Would like to have something waterproof and if possible that I could carry in the jeep reasonably.

The way I read that, it sounds like you have a soft top and just don't want to put the top back up each night. If that is the case, one thing to consider is a lot of these cab covers fit pretty snuggly, and if you have to account for a bulky soft top sitting on your tailgate, that might interfere. I have an emergency rain cover.....it's a totally POS, but it's very compact to carry and serves it's purpose the few times I've needed to use it. I've seen a few of the heavier material actual cab covers, and they seem a lot nicer in regards to protection.....and I'd presume keeping dew off the seats when it's cooler. I they still require a few minutes of putting on....almost to the extent they're not THAT much faster than just pulling the top back up. Although a full cover doesn't fit as snugly as a cab cover, seems like it would be much quicker to throw on and pull back off in the morning. That said....also a lot bulkier to store. Probably too cumbersome to keep in the jeep.

 

The Bestop is the one I bought this past summer based on numerous great reviews. It keeps the dew off of the seat and (from my understanding) it'll hold up to a rain storm and hail.

It's reasonably quick to put up and certainly a "cooler" option than putting your soft top back up. As far as storage goes, I just wad it up behind the rear seat (2dr) when it's not in use which makes it quicker to get up. Actual storage- rolling it up for the season- makes it very compact.

 

If the soft top is down on the tailgate, do the covers like that leave enough room to work around it? IDK about the 2dr's, but the 4dr soft tops are sure bulky when down.

 

The 2dr's deff fold a lot nicer than the 4dr. This pic is from last spring and the top was folded down on the tailgate. Door surrounds were off and I taped over the 2 holes for the security cable to maximize the waterproof-ability of the cover.
