Default CAI= Lower MPG?

It seems like my MPG have gone down after I installed my Air Force One CAI. Does this make sense? Has anyone else noticed this happening?

I have seen it with some K&N filterchargers aswell, it makes sence to me. You are letting more air through the engine so more fuel will be dumped in to match the ratio.

You will get more power though this way.

And, if you do anything to allow more power to be made, you are apt to be heavier on the right foot to use it. Fun factor, don't you know!

I had a CAI on a former vehicle, I used more gas because I liked to get on it to hear the CAI..

It's weird, some claim MPG gains with high flow filters, others lose. With mine I saw no noticeable change, and I track my fuel economy religiously.

the faster you get AIR in and out of the engine the more efficient it will be...in some respects. Probably just need to take your foot out of it.

I have no problem with the foot. I have not changed my driving habits at all. before I was getting 18-19 stock and now I am getting 15-16 CAI. I shift at 2k and am light on the pedal. I am going to try programming back to stock and see what happens (hypertech)

I'm no mechanic but but I've had my share of hot rods in the past. If you allow more air into your engine, you're pretty much going to have to let the air out faster.

I added a k&n drop in filter and saw no added anything mpg or power...

I did add a a new less restrictive muffler, a cheapo turbo muffler $20 bucks at pepboys.
I've seen a 2 mpg increase in mileage
