Default Cai ?

I have read alot of these threads about the CAI systems. I am totally confused about which one is better. If the oil, or not, filter is best. Whether they actually increase power and /or gas mileage, or are they worth the money to improve anything over the stock setup.
I looked at the AFE systems, they apparantly have two, the Stage 1 or 2 and the brute force. The stage 2 system seems to the best as it is somewhat sealed more from engine heat, and looks better engineered. I don't really know anything about these systems, having never used one. I have used the K&N filters before, with a minor improvement in gas mileage.
Maybe some of you guys can enlighten me and help an old fellow make an informed decision..
Thanks in advance...

Depends on your goal.

If you want your rig to sound better, then I'd go with oil-less system.

If you are expecting MPG and performance gains, drop the idea of any of this. It will not help. Put that money in the bank and save for a supercharger.

If you want to make that minivan motor under the hood to make more noise with maybe a 5% mpg gain. Go ahead. I got one and its just funny how loud that thing can be. I am all for saving for the supercharger because that is what i am doing read up on those if you are looking for mpg's.

I don't think you'll see much difference between any of the major brands regarding performance gains. THere are many variable claims on performance and mpg improvements, I can only say my Airaid yielded better throttle response in the 2000-2500rpm deadspot common with the autos, and I haven't noticed any mpg improvement. I would shop for the lowest cost deal if you're set on getting one.

Default water crossings

I see that non of the folks who have replied to your post mentioned the very real posibility of that CAI sucking water into ur intake on water crossings that your stock airbox would shake off like it was nothing. I don't know how uch wheeling u do or how much water u play in but u might wanna think about it.

I have the Airaid Cold Air Intake system. I have MUCH improved performance off the line to mid-range, and went from about 15 city to 17.5. As with all my modifications, the CAI was installed and tested by itself, without the input of other modifications to guage it's true performance.

I'm no expert, but swear by my Airaid.

They're snake oil. I've tried two, AEM and Volant, neither did anything but add more sound. They're both gone now. The only performance they increase is the flow of the money through the credit card companies.

Airaid Cold Air, Airaid Throttle Body Spacer, Jet performance Stage 1 on my jk 4 door (Yellow, of course). Dyno'd at 243 RWHP. Stock is 201HP. I only run the cheap gas as per Stage 1.

So it comes down to this: Either 1. the mods have added serious horsepower, 2. I got the only JK with a horsepower mistake from the factory, or 3. The Jeep Fairies keep sprinkling their magic dust on it every night.

CAI on wifes Vette gave it additional 22 rwhp, tested same day, same machine, 1 hour apart.

If you installed a CAI and didn't get anything but more noise, quite simply, you installed it wrong.
