Default Can I do One side at a time with a BB?

I have a rough country 2.5" lift. I was wondering if I could jack up one tire at a time and add the lift, then let it down and move to the next tire. Or, do I have to jack up both front wheels at the same time?

Thanks. I guess I'll go get a bigger jack and lift both at the same time.

What you need are jack stands, you cant just jack up the axles to get the wheels off. You need to jack up the frame to let the axle hang loose so that you can remove the suspension parts un compressed.

Please listen to the previous post...Make sure you use Jack stands and have a proper floor jack. It is not a technical job but with out the right equipment it could potentially be dangerous. You will be under the jeep much of the time. Go to Sams or some other auto store and buy a good set of jack stands and floor jack, probably less that $200 total. Better than dead or injured.

Great advice, + the tools you purchase will be a great investment for when you work on your Jeep from time to time...I purchased a set of 3 ton Jack stands & a 3 ton floor jack at a local Checkers store for under $100 when they went on sale...

Once properly lifted and secured, you will be able to do one side at a time without any problems if it's high enough. Just make sure you disconnect the sway bar on both sides, and have a bottle jack or another jack to get the droop required from the axel.

I would readlly heed what the other previous posts mentioned. I had the jack stands, but an insufficient floor jack. Once I got the Jeep on the jacks and the front wheels off, I had a sudden "oh $h@t" feeling and just put the thing back together and on the ground. I wanted to do it myself, not that it was hard but lacking the space and proper floor jack, I deferred to a competent garage. And, I am glad I did.....

As I learned, make sure you get the jack that will go the highest. My jack did not, so I could not get the jack stands high enough to drop the axles all the way, so I had to use spring compressors, and took me twice as long to do than if I was able to get the frame up higher.

My wife went to the funeral of a guy who didn't use jack stands. Now I have two sets. Look for the ones for trucks as they are usually a little taller. I know I would never trust a floor jack alone for this - especially the rear (parking brake can't help hold it still). Good luck.

I've picked up a set of tall SUV stands at walmart for $16...

Also, do not reconnect the front sway bar links until she's on wheels... i've learned that the hard way, had to disconnect and jack it up again... It's pretty easy to do, i did it by myself. the floor jack wasn't high enough, so i put it on some wood..
