Default Can u run a 37.......

I am lookin at a pretty sweet deal on a set of 37s. What I am wondering, is if I can run them with a 2.5 in coil lift and spacers for the time being? Has anyone done this?

sure you can, stick some spacers on your coils and add some flat flares or cut your stock ones

As stated above, you can. I recommend extending the bumpstops as needed to prevent contact with the body and or fenders.

I don't think you can with 2.5 lift :0 I think you'll have to add some body lift and flat flairs. Cause I'm running 37's with 4" lift and I'm getting rubbing when I flex. Broke two fenders cause of that lol so I'm getting some flat fenders too!

Yes you can, but here is your MUST set up list:

1)flat fenders- cut stock or bought
2) 2.5 lift - who cares what brand
3)Bend in Pinch seem with BFH
4)Wheels with <4.5 Back Spacing or Spacers
5)Cut/throw away plastic air damn
6)Longer bump stops

AND....

7)A savings fund!!!! 37's will tear the hell out of stock parts. With-in a year you'd be look at replacing one or more of these parts:

Shocks-extra weight will ultimately add more heat and your shocks will fail sooner
Steering Stabilizer- basically the same thing as a shocks. A bigger one will help.
Ball Joints-extra weight yadda yadda yadda, you got it.
Anything associated with bushings- I think I mentioned somewhere about added weight.

All depending on how hard you wheel, will be directly associated with how soon these things will run out. I know people will jump on and say everything about gears, shafts, axels....and all this is true, but thats not what you asked about.

Default Bump

I'm interested in getting more input on this from people with actual experience or seen it done with the actually set up, please no 'i thinks', just for our piece of mind . The original questioned setup was "2.5 in coil lift and spacers for the time being" and not a long term or (I'm guessing here, please feel free to step in Michguy) temp. non wheeling situation till more funds arrive . What would be the bare minimum in this situation to run the 37s is the question.

-Thanks

Add flat fenders and you can run a 37" tire with 2.5" of lift. If you are DD it, the pinch seam cut would be beneficial. I just cut mine off with a sawzall and painted it black.

If you do mild off road, I'd limit the uptravel to avoid significant rubbing - or run good quality steel tube fenders and let them be your upper bump stops. I run full coils on my TJ's front and let the tires rub my steel tube fenders to stop the up travel. Works fine and has done so for about 5 years now.

If you do serious off roading, you'll need to better build your rig.

Yes, I've run 37's on my JKU for 3 years now and currently have 38's on it.

Yes you can.

Chop your fenders and bend or cut rear pinch seam. You don't have to, but I recomend getting at least a .5'' bump stop extension for the front and a 1'' for the rear.

If you have the 3.21:1 gears you will want to change that. 3.73 and 4.10 gears work ok for the street and moderate trails.

Don't be scared just do it.

I'm not going to get into the what can be done vs what can't be done arguement, but will just mention what I am doing.

2 1/2" Teraflex coil lift
2 1/2" bumpstop extensions that comes with the Teraflex lift
GenRight aluminum flat fenders
Sawzall the rear pinch seam
Stubby bumpers
37" tires with 17x8 wheels that have 4.5" backspacing.

I use it as my daily driver, and also go four wheeling each and every weekend. No tire rub on the body at all, with 5000 miles on the Jeep at this point.
