Default Can't get stock mirrors out of the brackets

Need a little help.

I'm trying to relocate my mirrors and I can't get the stock mirrors out of the brackets (and yes I removed the torx bolt).

I've seen people say to twist back and forth (this seems only to engage the break away) and other said side to side (gets the jeep rockin'), but they aren't budging. Both sides are not moving at all.

I have a 2011 so it's not like they've been sitting in there for years.

Any ideas?

Should be a longer torx screw also. Put it in place of the shorter on a hit it with a mallet. Should push it out

Ha ha.. yea. That's what I thought.

I got them out!!!

I took a screwdriver smaller than the hole the bolt came out of, and put it in and knock it pretty hard. It took a few good hits and the driver mirror actually flew out and hit the driveway. Not too much damage, and better than snapping them off by yanking them too hard.

Thanks for the replies

can you post pictures. I am just curious how the wiring harness is for the electric mirrors on the 2011's and newer.

Personally I have just been thinking about doing the autozone mirrors when I do mine and keep the factory mirrors on the doors.

My driver side mirror came off easy, the passenger side not so much. I broke the interior assembly and was a little upset.....until I put on the relocation bracket and found out the passenger side mirror is worthless with relocation brackets unless the doors are off.

I'd be hesitant to use a screwdriver. I've always removed the longer bolt from the inside of the door that holds the mirror bracket on. Screwed it into the mirror a few times and used a rubber mallet. It will prevent the mirror from flying off too
