Needed a cargo box for a trip coming up - made this with some stuff I already had

Going to bedline the metal next week when I raptor line my bumpers.

Hold at least 350lbs - hope it travels well.

Do you have to take it off the hitch to open the gate

Yes - that is the only way. However for what we are doing - one way trip, then take it off - that's not a big deal.
