carrier whim issues?
So I bent my lower control arm brackets, decided to sleeve and gusset since I was pulling front axle, am having issues getting carrier shims back in was curious if I need a case spreader. I've done a few tj's and always used a dead blow and they just slide in. Mine go in about half way and stop, don't want to hit to hard and mess up the shims. Thanks in advance.
Ok so in the end i bent the shim on the ring gear side trying to get it in. got with dave at northridge he got me a carrier shim kit, so ended up matching up the shims to the what i had, which was .149. checked backlash and was around .007 which is from what i can find within spec. (.005-.008) checked the paint marking kinda know it was going to be good due to not messing with the pinion depth. in the end found that my issue must have been the way i was installing the shims. they were extremely tight, and i did bend a .010 shim trying to get it in. so if your is tight go slow be very careful with the shims.
