I don't know of a spot on the axle that correlates to the caster angle.

The closest you can get would be to get it checked on an alignment machine, then take it home and park it on a level surface.
Find a place on the axle to affix an angle finder, and zero it. To change the caster, adjust the arms until the angle finder indicates the amount of degrees you want it to change.

Has anyone verified the two points on the bottom of the C are actually 90° from the "king pin" axis?

What number gives you good handling? And is it negative on pinion angle that it would wear parts quickly.

The problem with the angle finder is that it measures straight lines, while an alignment machine measures some type of an arc, so I don't think there can be any direct correlations. The angle finder, and the caster section of that write-up, are just easy ways to get it in the ballpark.

Dyna posted another option a few days ago that I will try to find.

You're going to want to measure your caster at the pinion flange. There is 6* of separation. If you have 3* of pinion (up tilt) you'll know you have 3* of caster. 4* of pinion means 2* of caster.
