Caution: Rugged Ridge XHD Modular Bumper
I've had their XHD front bumper on since early 2010 and no issues. I don't have a stinger or hoop. No problems up front. Was ordered from Quadratec.
The back bumper: That's another story!
Have had rear bumper since May 2011 - nothing but problems!
As best I can remember, first had the bolts on the tire carrier strip. They sent me replacement bolts. Problem was the bolts are spot welded so that didn't help. They sent me a complete new rear bumper and tire carrier. Replaced only the triangular tire carrier and also the latch on which the powder coating had already started to chip. That was the second latch!
My current problem is the tire carrier latch is almost impossible to use. I have to put all my strength into it just to get it opened and closed. Upon closer inspection, it appears everything inside the latching mechanism is rusted out! This happens even when the tire carrier is swung open!
And now I have to push really hard against the tire to get the carrier to shift a bit to the passenger side so I can get the latch past the place where it sits when the latch is closed.
I contacted Quadratec from whom I bought it from. They asked for pictures. I sent them. Their response "it appears to be abuse"! Now sure what's going on, but it appears the latch has speard apart a bit. There's more room between the top of the latch and the piece that keeps it in place as opp0osed to the space on the bottom. They, Quadratec, suggested I contact RR.
I contacted RR and provided them all the information plus the pictures. Their response? Spread some marine grade grease inside the latch. As for the tire carrier having to be pushed to the rigt, they suggested adjusting the tire carrier a bit to the right.
I'm going to try this as soon as our weather cooperates - way too much rain here!
Overall I'm satisfied with the front bumper, but the back bumper: sucks! May end up havcing someone build me a rear with tire carrier!
I purchased the RR XHD bumpers because I liked the size of the D-rings. They are large enough you don't have to remove the D-rings to get a strap through!
