IM sure there is a page dedicated to this already but here goes anyways. Has anyone mounted a small CB radio under the heater controls? To be specific it's the spot where most people remove the plastic cover to install switches for lights etc.
I was just given an older midland cb and was thinking about mounting it in this location.post pics please

 

in front of the shift lever? my midland 822 is a hand held unit off to the side , you could mount it anywhere i supose but that location wouldnt work if its a standard shift very well maybe a auto it might, not sure.

 

It's an automatic so it should work. Maybe. I like the handheld cb like yours or the cobra 75 but I justify spending money if I already have a free cb.

 

where will you mount the switches that control stuff though after installation?

 

I was thinking something like this. I guess if I ever needed more I could always buy a pillar switch.

 

I like that set up but then you loose the storage net & thats where i have my firestik antenna connection laying in there .

I have noticed some mount them above the rear view mirror?? Like the hand held idea...... Is there any advantage of one versus another???..... Also bedsides on the trails, would you use it much??
I remember when as younger, taking roadtrips with my parents and conversing with the truckers

 

I guess the only real advantage to having a handheld is that it can be put out of sight when it's not in use. I would rather not mount it above the rear view mirror or the top of dash bc I tend to run without a top most of the time and I'm not so sure how water tight these things can be if left to the elements.
