Default Changing battery, does anyone know...

Just purchased a Sears Platinum [34/P1]... will likely swap this weekend or maybe as soon as tonight.

2007 OEM seems fine, but getting ready to wire up lights and finish winch install, so wanted start fresh. Plus, I've been told by a guy that started his mods with just a battery change right after purchase that the Jeep will just run better (... explain that!).

Can someone tell me everything that happens when the battery is disconnected?

Do I need to/should I return my HyperTech programing to stock first?

I have a little technique/practice of using jumper cables to keep a battery connected/in-the-loop when swapping, but I'd like to know what's what in case my 'circuit' opens during the physical exchange.

Thanks with Season's Greetings

I don't think you need to worry about much.
Your programmer should write the new data to a ROM chip that will not be erased when the battery is disconnected.
If you have a lockpick installed for the MyGig, you will need to pull the radio fuse before swapping the battery, otherwise you'll have to pull and replug in the radio harness afterward.

You should be fine, they do make a "memory saver" that uses a 9 volt battery and plugs into the obd2 port. I got mine from snap-on like 6 years ago so everyone should sell them by now.

When I changed to a new battery, I noticed when I reconnected the terminals there was a short
muffled honk of the horn and for about a minute I could hear sounds like the computer was
resetting. I have the Hypertech and did nothing to it.
