Default changing oil filter

I hate to ask, but I don't know the answer or if it matters, so here goes...

If I change just my oil filter, does it matter what angle the jeep is? Level, or nose up, or nose down, or does it matter?

Now, let me qualify the question... I like to do my own oil changes and such, and this last time I put in Mobil 1. It seems that everyone who uses synthetic has had great success, and Mobil 1 seems to come highly recommended. I am planning on changing the filter every 3 thousand miles, and would like to know if there is a particular advantage to the jeep being level or otherwise.

Thanks!

You will leak some oil but not a big deal. Just add what ever you leak out. You will probably need to add about 1/2 quart. It really doesn't matter what angle you do it at.

On a side note I am planning on using Mobil 1 on my next oil change.

How long between oil changes with synthetic?

Still change the filter every 3000 miles, but not the oil?

Thanks

I am thinking about going 6000 between changes, maybe more...just depends on what I can find during my research in the next 5800 miles. The 3000 mile oil filter change is just some insurance and as cheap as oil filters are, I don't mind changing them.

As a side note, my gas mileage seems to have improved about 1/2 mpg. Seems being the operative word.

Using Mobile1 oil and Mobile1 filter you should be good for 5000 miles. Change both at that time...............

There have been studies that show if you run synthetic, you don't have to change the oil, just the filter. Some tests got close to 50K miles.

But, changing every 7500 is fine if you drive on the highway all the time. If you're going offroad, every 5 or even 3 is better for the engine. Same with the airfilter, if you're playing in the dirt, things just get dirtier.

Amsoil says you can run 10K with their products
(no I am not affiliated with Amsoil, nor do I sell their products, or even have any of their products).
