Default Changing a Wheel Stud -- Easy or Hard???

My rear driver axle has a torn up wheel stud because someone decided to torque the hell out of it. How difficult is it change out the wheel stud with a new one?

Thanks!

Its very easy. Just find a place to knock out the nub with a punch and hammer. Place the new one in the hole and set it with a impact.

If you don't have an impact you can also use a stack of washers and pull the stud in with a lugnut.

Place the stud in the hole, slide about an inch or so of washers over the stud. Now thread you lug nut on and tighten. It will pull the stud into place.

Google this technique and you'll find pictures.

I replaced one a few years back. As stated, it's not terribly difficult. The hard part was the part: I ended up at the dealer because there weren't any aftermarket studs specified for the JKs. That may have changed since.

Thank you all. I do have an impact. I'll hit up the dealership to order a new stud and then take care of this over the weekend. Again, thank you. Perhaps I'll post a write up if I can't find that one.

Robars write-up is in the write-ups area, there is an index up top, wheels & tires section.
