Default Is cheap hemi possible.

I have a 2008 X 2 door that is fully paid for and I plan on sell for 14,500. Salvage title so yeah. I plan on buying an 07 or 08 4 door and want to install a 5.7 hemi. I see that JSS sells a kit for 3500, also engine and tranny for another 3500. 7000 grand total. Questions is, can I really accomplish a swap with around 7000. I will be doing the work myself. I have a whole week off for spring break and all the tools needed. It seems too good to be true so just wonder if anyone has install a hemi using JSS kit and engine with no problems. Any info will be great.

The 4WD Parts store said that they have a place that does it for right around 6K...plus the cost to ship to and from. Not sure of the details or where they send it. They claim they have done a couple.

The words "cheap" and "engine swap" never go together...no matter what car or engine. There is also some form of custom or fab work involved...let alone all those little clamps, hoses, etc... that will nickel and dime you to death.

I have not done a Hemi swap so I do not know from experience, but this is just the general line of thought that is involved with most engine swaps.

Dang a Hemi swap for 6-7K!

If i had that kind of cash i would go DynaPR 60s first,

But seriously, that is really reasonable. Since you are taking care of the labor that takes a good amount right off the top. I am so close to paying off my JK as well, that is when the real fun mods start.

Hopefully someone out there has done a rebuild or salvage swap from a wrecked Ram pickup or otherwise and chimes in.

But being able to get a deal like that as said would be phenomenal IMO. If it could happen for around 5K, that would make the swap even more appealing. That would only guarantee spending the other 1-2K on something else

Good Luck and take tons of pics!!!

True please replace "cheap" with "reasonbly priced." I do hope to get the price down by finding my own engine and tranny somewhere else. Im hopeing around 2k which would put at around 5500. I know how little things add up. Its the thing that i am worried about. JSS state it is a complete kit. To me that means i dont need anything else but the engine and tranny with maybe some fab being done which is fine. Any custom fab will be cover as i will have access to metal fab company. I had about enough of this 3.8 engine so to me its a must. All I want for christmas is more low end torque. lol

I want to make a hemi swap happen off a teacher salary. Going with other major option would set me back 15000 or 20000. That is half my salary. Doing it inexpensivly doesnt mean doing it wrong. I think its doing smart. IMO.

I completely agree...there is a difference between cheap and inexpensive. You sound like you know what you are talking about and like this is something thats not out of your realm. I would just make sure when buying a used engine/transmission you can get as much info about those units as possible. I know this is something hard to do because most junk yards dont track that stuff. Have you considered picking up a totaled truck/suv with the hemi engine/transmission intact? At least that way you could recoup some of the costs by parting out the rest of that truck.

Yeah the engine/transmission would be my biggest concern. Picking up a totaled truck/SUV is another option just have to find a good one. Looking by far is taking most of the time. I dont want to put in a Hemi with 80,000 miles so i'll keep searching.

You Said your a teacher... Maybe you can get access to your schools auto shop/lift and make a school project out it and have the shop class pay for some of the parts out of there budget..... But at the same time I'd keep thoses little bastards as far away from my rig as I could!!!!

Somthing to consider.
