Cheap Rock Rails
Let me start off by saying I am not affiliated with any business just wanting to show a new option. Ok so Rock Rails are one of the major upgrades to your protection, but they cost a fortune for what they are. Trail Tubes is offering a new solution, they offer "Build Your Own Kits" all the steel is pre-bent all you have to do is cut the mounts to the length you want and weld everything together. It's super easy, and great for those that are the do-it-yourselfer. Check out their website at www..trailtubes.com. They not only offer rockrails, but also tube doors, fenders, and many bumper options. They are pretty new to the JK but they will have all these kits and more for the JK soon.
JK 4 door - $249 shipped
JK 2 door and TJ - $229
Here is my install of the 4 door rockslides

First you want to tac on the support mounts then take them out to the Jeep, and see how much you need to shorten the mounts to get the rails where you want them outside of the jeep.

You then want to cut the mounts down to the proper length and finish welding them up.

Next you weld the mounts and lower bar onto the frame of the jeep. You really want to make sure your getting your welds right here, because that's where your structural support comes from.

Next you add on the upper rock rail and get it at the angle you want and weld it in as well. After you get this last part on and weld it up, all you have left is paint. I choose to use the spray on bedliner because I like the way it finishes.

The lower support tube is much thicker and wider the upper rock rail I agree seems smaller at only 1.5 diameter but what is not seen is the thickness of the steel. It's a lot thicker than you would imagine, but I've put it through the paces, and have not had any bends. I added them on as just an extra layer of protection past the rubi-rails.
Yeah DUH!! I didnt even notice the square tubing running behind the actual bar. That is a very nice setup though. I really like it. Maybe extend the round bar out just a wee bit more and weld a flat piece of steel and you would have a very nice step too. Im checkin this one out!
