Saying molded plastic is the same in all accounts is just not true.. It is like saying all metals are the same..

Quite often the cheaper molded plastics do not have UV or the proper curing. There is a big big difference between good plastics and bad plastics.

We have two kayaks both molded plastics. One is a good brand name and we paid a high price for it... I've had the kayak everywhere and even had a tree fall on it (dent just pulled right out with some heat). The cheaper kayak already is cracking and looks twice as old as the twice as old better kayak.

The big difference between the AEV and the knock off is the AEV is made to AEV's specifications. The knock off made using a mold and designed to be sold cheap. It might be just as good.. could be the same plastics.. but at least you know the AEV will last and you have a company to help you if it doesn't.

I helped install one yesterday on my friends Jeep. Seemed pretty solid the only issue was the rivets they included wouldn't fit the rib you install around the cut area, had to drill it out.

Honestly it's mostly cosmetic for most and just happens to be some added security in a water crossing.

EBay over aev just for because the price. Now if I was looking for wheel spacer I would go with a spydertrax over eBay/rough country. I can silicone the Hell out of the snorkel to seal it. I can't make the cheaper spacer stronger.

Just to be fair to be fair to aev. They talk about the aev knock of on their website. It is made in Malaysia. They said that the plastic is of lesser quality. I've never seen a real aev snorkel so I can't compare the two. In all honesty, I'm going to bet that the aev snorkel is built better, although, again I have nothing to base that off of. But I have no complaints out of the one I got and would purchase it again.

Nothing against aev but what do you expect them to say its half the price oh ya it's as good as ours there patten is up so another company came in and did it cheaper. I know buy American but only if its made here. Not an America company part made overseas.
