Default Cheapest way to convert 2WD to 4WD

I've been looking and actually found parts from Rubi's and other front axles but still very confused as for what would be the basic way to go and convert my 2WD to 4WD.
i saw some threads about conversion but its all about the best of the best... i just want to know simple what are the components i must have to bolt on to the 2WD to convert to 4WD...
so... the most simplistic way to convert 2WD to 4WD with the components i must have...
Thank you in advance.

I think the simplest, easiest and probably even cheapest option is to sell the 2WD and buy a 4WD.

You would need at minimum front axle geared to match the rear, front drive shaft and a transfer case. I'd think the labor involved would be insane.

If you can do all of the work but the rehear yourself its not bad at all. Especially if you can find good used parts

Actually it would be a LOT cheaper to do it myself with used parts or parts at cost...

axle, t case, drive line, full new console, suspension lots of it, shifter assembly, locker plugs and wire loom if needed, wow.

x2 should just trade up.

that list up there easily puts you in the six to seven range, easily. ouch

If I was in your position and you didnt want to trade in for a 4 wheel drive I would search around junk yards all around your area and who knows you may find a completely trashed jk that you could get the drive line off of and that would be about the best bolt on you would find as a full conversion and then being that you had to pull all the parts it wouldn't be hard to reinstall on your rig... good luck on your adventure

used will be more than 2k. Unless, of course, you have the worlds best junkyard near you. applaud you for the go-get-em spirit though...it can be done for sure.
