Default check engine light/gascap error message (list of mods and timeline)

Here are my mods and what happened recently leading up to these error messages...
Flashpaq 93 tune
MbRp off road exhaust installed 2 weeks ago

ripped off evap canister last Tuesday
AEV snorkel installed thursday
No error messages at that point
Installed new evap canister on Friday, noticed that the white valve did not make a tight connection with the evap canister but still clicked into place
Saturday got oil change, still no error
Sunday got the gASCAP error in the speedo display
Tuesday Check engine symbol illuminated
Since then, both messages are on all the time.

Any ideas?

Yes. You have a major evap leak and it will stay on until you get it fixed.

unhook your battery for about ten minutes then drive it again to see if they come on again go to autozone and they will scan it for free if the light comes back on and tell you why and how to fix it

is there supposed to be a gasket or O ring in between the white valve and the evap canister?

just realized my flashpaq tuner can read and clear codes. cleared them and we'll see if it comes back. I still would feel better about the evap system being sealed airtight. not sure what water would do if it got in there.

Well, if the evap system isn't sealed, it's gonna throw a code. You answered your own question.

There should be a seal between the valve and the evap. If I remember right, it was a flat 1/8 thick rubber seal. It might have been green in color. If it is not there or bad you will throw a code. Mine was showing gascap along with some other codes.
