Clearing up the Backspace mud
Hi all,
Tomorrow we will be picking up our '07 JK 4 door black stick shift, soft top. that's about all I wanted for options since most everything else will be replaced eventually.
My question. I've been reading that to fit 33x12.50 you need 5" of backspacing to avoid rubbing. I've seen some people say they've got 3.25" backspacing. What is the least you can go with an avoid rubbing? With my '98 TJ with 33x12.50 MTR's I ran 3.75" backspacing with very little rubbing (some). So to hear 5" backspacing is enough is hard for me to understand.
Thanks and I look forward to many good days ahead with this group.
disclaimer: Yes, I did search and can only find bits and pieces. A lot about spacers but I have no desire to run spacers.

for 33" and no rubbing, any wheels between 4-5" Backspacing should be good (altough, it'll still rub on full flex, not on full turn)
I have 33" with 4.5 BS right now w/ no lift and no rubbing (full turn).

No problems.. (Did just barely rub the air dam when at extreme turn into parking space ), but I changed out bumper and took off the air dam.. No problems at all..!!!
Man I wish they made those wheels in polished 18's
