Default Clicking upon acceleration.

I have noticed that with my 08 there has been on cold days some clicking sound that occurs upon acceleration and eventually the clicking sound goes away. Some posts I have read have indicated that there is a drive shaft problem due to the fact that if you see a grease splatter on the underside of the body near the transfer case. I am new to the technology in the JK and what I am used to is a universal joint drive shaft on other vehicles I have had in the past. I got under the rig and there is the signs of the grease splatter on the front end of the rear drive shaft near the transfer case. Could someone explain to me the technology of a cv drive shaft and in fact what should I do about the problem I am having with the the clicking sound I am hearing... Is the problem repairable or should I replace the shaft?? I am not a heavy wheeler but I want to fix it properly...

Mine does that but I removed the front shaft, still there.

I now believe its my throw out bearing. May not be your case if you're rolling an auto trans.

Bump for more input for you bud

Please go to "My Profile" and edit your profile to include information on your jeeps setup. People will be better able to help you then.

That said, I ran my stock DS's for about 12,000 miles with a 3" lift before they started to throw grease. Then I replaced them with coast DS's. The clicking sound you hear is most likely the final stages of your DS's going out. Also check your DS bolts (12mm 13 pt.) for tightness as these are notorious for backing out on modified jeeps. Be sure to use red locktite on the bolts when you torque them.
