Clutch options for 3.8 jk
Recently lost the clutch in my 07 Jk. Looking to upgrade to a beefy aftermarket clutch. Jeep is stored during winter months and from what I've gathered this eliminates a few options.? Looking to see what some of you recommend or what you have upgraded to yourself !
I can only offer advice to stay far away from autozone clutches. I've went through 3 of them. Also make sure to either replace/ resurface your flywheel. I'm having some slippage problems atm and am unsure of it being because other than the first clutch job I never touched the flywheel - or I recently had a throw out bearing explode causing the slave cylinder to break and leak brake fluid.
I would definitely splurge for an upgraded clutch kit if I wasn't doing the labor myself.

That really sucks about autozone. I know that both autozone and O'rielys both get their clutch from the same supplier. I went with a high performance clutch in the end.
I went with the SPEC clutch after reading good reviews and now wish I hadn't. They offer zero support when (not if) the TOB goes out. I was at less than a year and they basically said "ok....good luck".
I'd go back to stock. Yes, the SPEC has more "holding power" but that doesn't mean anything when it slips and burns when feathering the clutch where the factory had no issues. I do like how quickly it picks up and cuts the power but I'd go back to factory. Maybe....maybe I'd consider the LUK clutch kit, but I'm pretty well set on no "aftermarket, increased capacity" clutches.

I'm going with the OEM when I replace mine. I just don't know if I'm going to do it as preventative maintenance or wait until I feel it going out.
Anyone ever get a quote from a dealership on clutch replacement? I've got a local Jeep dealer that does good work on the manual transmissions, so I might just take it to them when the time comes to replace it.

If it lasted this long, why not keep dancing with who brung you? I've read of OEM clutches going 140,000 miles. Mine is at 105,000, and while I'm starting to wonder about replacing it, I'm really not feeling anything different than it has always felt. How many miles do you have on your original clutch?

I run the center force in both my JK's. I have about 60,000 miles on my JKU since replaced. It engaged easier and MPG went up a bit. I did my JK with their flywheel and would not recommend the flywheel, just stick with the OEM. I can feel the power loss and with my gearing off road I really don't need the mass to keep from stalling.
