Default Coil length

I have a 4" Ultimate from Full Traction. Since it was installed we have figured out that I have 3" front coils, and a 2.25" rake. Today, after weeks of waiting, my new 4" coils showed up. They are 19.5", and 20.25" in length. What side does the longer one go on? Do most coils have that much variation? I'm trying not to be jaded by the poor customer service I have recieved in the past few weeks, and really like the ride of my jeep, but I'm surprised that the coils are such different in length. Any input on this?

Thats not right, you need to have two springs that are the same length...

Are you sure you didn't order their half mile circle dirt track kit?

i know this sounds dumb but... check the longer coil and see if the bottom of it terminates with the wire flat. if so, that one goes on the passenger side and should help address the lean all JK's seem to have.

Not sure if the JK is the same, but the TJ Wranglers had a slightly longer front spring (aftermarket) on one side (can't remember which side right now). This was to help compensate for the lean to one side the the TJ would develope over time. The lean came from accelerating. The torque sort of "twists" the frame slightly when taking off from a dead stop. This would cause the Jeep to wear the spring out on one side sooner and it would develope a lean. To correct that, aftermarket companies made one side slightly longer (or stiffer) to help the Jeep keep an even ride. If the JK is the same, then that may be why one is longer than the other.

Both coils terminate in the same way.

do they both terminate flat? if so, i would still install the longer one on the passenger side. can't say for sure if this was done on purpose or not but it would help level out your jeep

I just talked with Patrick at FT, the coils are within acceptable lengths, but they should both be the same. He was going to go take some measurements and call me back. Usually that means I'll have to call back tomorrow. I'm starting to regret going with this lift, I've had it for 2 months and its been a constant struggle to get the right coils( right now fronts are 3"). FT doesn't seem to care about customer service much. I'm over $3k into my lift, so I can't go back, but I certainly can't recommend them to anyone else right now.

So, 2 days ago Patrick was supposed to send me a matching coil. Today I called to confirm they were doing what they said they would do. Apparently their database was screwed up, and they had no idea what I was talking about. I couldn't talk to Patrick, he is no longer there. they are going to ship a coil tomorrow. I hope. I'll never use a FT product again after this, and it has nothing to do with the quality of the components.
