Default Coil Lift Question

Im swapping out my Rubi shocks, coils and 2" spacers for a Rough Country 2.5" coil lift with shocks. The RC lift says it levels the Jeep (assuming it is stock) so the springs must be a little taller in the front. I have a RR front bumper, hoop, ends and skid adding up to about 130 lbs.

In the rear I have the RR XHD, Tire carrier and my new tire/wheel combo totaling about 280 lbs.

Should I add a spacer in the rear to level it out?? I dont mind a little rake, but I dont want any reverse rake.

I wouldn't. As best as I remember, rear springs are able to handle more weight anyway. So, the extra weight in the rear shouldn't case a reverse rake.

However, that said, I'd add a spacer all the way around. I went with the 3.25" RC lift, and it's the same thing as you are looking at but with .75" spacers on top of their 2.5" springs. With the added weight, those .75" pucks should more than make up for anything you'll lose.

I thought about it, but didnt want to go over 2.5 because im afraid that I will need too many additional parts to make it ride right. I didnt an experiment by putting 100lbs of powerblocks on the rear bumper and it dropped me 1/4" I dont have the tire carrier or 35 on there yet, but the total net gain over the stock tire will be about 100lbs.

I think im just going to put in the lift and see how it is. Plus its not like 100lbs added to the rear makes the front go up 1/4"...

Im still interested in other opinions though...

I would say put the spacer in! I put the terflex 2.5" on mine and it came with a rear spacer and spring guide. It didnt have a front one with the kit but it said it would be even with the rear. wrong.. shouldve put a front spacer in. my front is about 1/2" lower than the rear. just my .02

I have the 2.5 rc on my 2010 rubi, front bumper is a smity with a xrc10 winch, rear bumper is a smitty with tire carrier and 35 on it, also have a aluminum box in the rear cargo stocked with stuff...Jeep sits level no saggy rear, the stock rubi coils have a 1/2" isolator on them put it on top the rc springs and youl be fine

My question is if I need it in the rear. The RC coils themselves are supposed to level the jeep, but I have alot of extra weight in aftermarket parts (about double) in the rear...

I think u r going to be disapointed in the RC 2.5 coil lift. It doesnt give very much lift at all. I am running 2.5 coils with 1.75 front spacers and one inch rear spacers as well as coil correction wedges with 34s and my jeep doesnt sit that high imo.

I would get the 3.25 lift kit at a minimum. Actually I would either get the 4 inch kit or the Teraflex 2.5 coil lift kit. U may beed a new front DS with these two but since u have 4 door, your rear shuold be fine with either. Whatever u do dont use any cam bolts. The jeep will ride fine with 4 inch RC lift and not caster adj. I have stock control arms and ahve no complaints on how it drives.

Here is my jeep with above referenced setup:

Why are u changing what you have?

the instructions for that kit state that the rear guides/spacers are optional and not needed if you are using the TF shocks.

to the OP, you will want to add spacers. what size? wont know until the lift is on and you see how much height you lose. id guess 1/2"

Anyone else have a RC 2.5 lift with front and rear bumpers...

I think im not going to add the spacers and see how the rear is. Like I said, I just dont want any reverse rake, I just wasnt sure how the lift would handle the additional 285 lbs on the back and 130lbs on the front...

I had the 3.25 lift and was not happy with it, although the shocks aren't half bad. If they're still using the progessive coils get a different lift. I had RR bumpers front and rear and I pretty much lost any lift I gained with the RC 2.5 coils. I ended up getting OME coils to fix the sag and haven't looked back.
