Default Cold Air Intake

I've been thinking about getting a cold air intake for my 08, but there are so many brands out there. I tried some videos on youtube, but nothing real clear as to which are better. Is it mainly a style difference? I'm curious what others have chosen, or suggest.

When you say cold air. Do you mean an exposed air filter under the hood in a hot engine bay? Or using a snorkel for cooler air? Personally I went with AEV for this purpose. It has the shortest route. The least twists and bends. Straight forward installation, and least invasive to other vehicle parts. Also there is a heat reduction hood option.

Let us know. Good Luck

I'm just looking to upgrade my intake. I know it's nit really cold air, but that's what they call them. I did think about getting the heat reduction hood, but if I do that I'd probably be opening a can of worms on body work.

They really don't do anything so pick the one that looks prettiest to you.

This topic comes up here frequently. I agree that maybe it looks better and can change the sound, but I think 99% on here would agree that you cannot tell any performance increase. In fact, there could be a deficiency if it makes it more risky to get water into the air intake.

IMO get a K & N Air filter that fits in your factory housing... It will be much less expensive. The A/M kits claim HP increases.. ON Their Dyno's; under Their testing dynamics. You might find a high flow GREEN Filter for even less $ than the K & N.

I put on an AFE Momentum with a PG-7 (7-layer) filter last year. It filters as good or better than stock, with a lot more dirt capacity. The key point is the PG-7, the other ones don't filter as well. The intake (post filter) is staying clean, cleaner than the stock one, in very dusty conditions.

There is 2 to 3 KPA higher manifold pressure at full power, so there's roughly 2 to 3 percent more power (100 KPA barometric). It's enclosed with two drain holes for water to drain out the bottom.
