The main reason they come stock on the Sahara I believe is to help protect those painted flares. You might start seeing some paint chips. I do like them better off though.

You're going to get about a 50/50 split here, so it is basically your decision.

I put nerf bars on mine, they don't hide the pinch weld at all. Yours look fine. It is your Jeep though.

looks to be a 50/50 opinion. It does not go offroad at all, and I like to keep it clean- the running boards, as well as the bumpers are such a bitch to keep looking nice, and it ends making the entire jeep look dirty.

good point about keeping the car doors off the paint in parking lots with them on... I think I will put back on and figure out a good way to keep them clean. Thanks for the input

If it was mine, I would :
  1. keep the lift as is. Test it out offroad.
  2. loose the running boards in lieu of rock rails. Test them out offroad (sell them boards for beer money, go have a party offroad)
  3. oh, and go offroad

Sahara owner chiming in: Leave em on (or replace them with something similar) - without them, your painted fenders are in for a world of hurt. Even WITH them on, if you run some hard trails, you're going to pick up some trail badges (aka battle scars) on your painted fenders... I know that mine didn't stop all the mud and crud from flying up and hitting the fenders - only MOST of it.

I agree with someone who posted above, suggesting that you switch em off to rock rails (stock from a Rubi, or aftermarket). But, if you value your fenders' paint job, you'll want to keep SOMETHING there.
