Computer flash after lift install question
I just had a 4" lift installed along with 35" Toyo open country tires. the tsp has been going off so I called the dealer to see about having the computer flashed with the new specs. The mechanic says that he can also program a change in the pinion angle making it where I won't need to regear to get power back. He wants $175 to do all the changes. I haven't read about this in here yet. has any one heard of this?

is your steering wheel straight when the wheels are straight? you can get an aev procal for cheaper then 175 and program the tire size in your self, programming for pinion gearing wont help unless you actually change gears there is an easy write up to straighten your steering wheel http://project-jk.com/jeep-jk-write-...-end-alignment
what lift did you install? adjustable track bars too?
pinion gearing maybe but not angle

"penion gear maybe", that can be adjusted by the computer? and is it worth haveing done?
I had to disable my ESP all together , their is a write up if you search for " ESP off" I believe. Its a turn the steering wheel , press button 7 seconds turn back kinda code. I believe it works for model year 08 and up, should be a flyer with your owner manual and warrantee paperwork with this info but use the write up from here as their is a bit about turning steering wheel from 11 o'clock to 1 o'clock then back center before starting and that is not in the write up that came with mine and was the missing step to get it to work. I can now turn mine off or on at will .
I have taken mine to a pro shop here that does serious jeep fab and they looked at all my Geometry and said all is ok as is ( well they hate short arm kits to begin with) so other than starting all over my only real option was to disable the ESP for now. It is nice not to have to push the ESP off button every time and I don't worry about wife driving and forgetting to turn it off.
regards,

Someone correct me I'm wrong here, but the dealers can't reprogram for anything larger than a 32" tire, correct?
Anyway, AEV ProCal. Do a quick search, browse their site, look at all the nifty things it does. Then search this site and browse any of the dozens of threads on it.
Then go buy one...
He can program in a new gear ratio (even though you haven't actually changed gears) which will alter your shift points. This may help a little, but it will NOT compensate for the extra height/weight/mass of 35" tires. The way to get your lost power back is to actually install new gears...

Hey thanks for all the info. The dealer called me back and I told him never mind I found a better way, he countered with knocking off half the price.
I'm looking into the procal and superchip. with the future mods I have planned it sounds like the better way to go.
