Default CONFUSED.... someone clarify!!!!!

Ok, so i just got back home from the dealer (I HATE DEALERS!!!) and in their showroom they had a brand new JK w 295/70/18 Nitto trail grapplers no lift (i asked), they looked huge on it so i went on Nittos site and looked the specs on the tire: the height is 34.57....I have 295/70/17s and they are only 33.54 according to the site... WTF?! is this right??? can it be right? AND according to the site 35/12.50/ 17 is 34.84 tall.... so if the dealer installed 34.57 in tires on a stock JK w no lift can i install 34.84 tires on my JK with a 1.5 lift???? Could the specs on the Nitto site be wrong???

A 295/70/18 should be 1" taller than a 295/70/17. The first number is the tread width in mm, so 295mm. The second number is the height of the sidewall. Sidewall height on a metric tire size is a percentage of tread width. So both the tires mention have a sidewall height of 70% 295mm, so right around 206.5mm sidewall height. The 17 is going to be 1" smaller due to the wheel size being 1" smaller.

Different brands will measure differently even if the size is the same. The specs on the websites are un mounted. There are alot of variables to consider like rim width weight on the JK and tire pressure. If your tires measure 33.54 on the Jeep, off the Jeep they are prob like 34.5 or so. The tires on the dealer JK were not 34.57 mounted, they were prob like 33.75 or something. Also I would bet money that the dealer had the tire pressure at like 50

They may have 35's on it with no lift but it will rub the fenders off road and probably pop them right off.
