Default Congo Cage Quick release
Has anyone tried to do this yet? I'm thinking grind the heads off of longer bolts for the front and drilling them out for quick release pins...

I haven't, but I do have the quick release kit for my gobi rack and there is a lot more to it that just pins. I don't know how secure that would be if I'm right about what you are planning to do.
