Control arm / lift ?
I am having the 3"teraflex lift installed on my Jeep and having it done through a jeep dealership. They have been using this lift on many new jeeps they sell. My question is, instead of using front lower and rear upper control arms shown in the $1580 kit, they install all LOWER front and rear control arms, does anyone know a specific reason they would do this? They said they install the front and rear LOWERS to help maintain warranty.
they are idiots and i would make sure to check their work. up front, the adjustable lowers will allow them to set your caster higher and give you a good ride but in the rear, you NEED uppers if you are getting a new u-joint style drive shaft. they are needed to set your pinion angle. now, if you have a 4-door, upgrading your drive shaft will not be required and so you really don't need any adjustable control arms in the rear.
Yea be careful, some dealers really don't know whats going on... I saw a 4-door at a dealer once with a 4 inch superlift, stock arms, stock front track bar (no bracket) and stock driveshafts. I think they wanted 50k for it
They know what's going on as far as that, $$$$$ for them, they just hope some body buys it that don't know squat and they'll probably ream someone good with that.
There are plenty of people out there. the majority of the jeep owners especially 4 doors are yuppies.
