Default Control arms not greased. This displeases me.

I paid a shop to install control arms for me. I purchased the Rock Krawler arms and had them installed by the shop. In fact, they ordered and installed the arms. Recently I needed work done of my Jeep and went to a new guy. He tried to grease my control arms and could not. He said this is because when the control arm were installed that they were not greased. He also stated he sees this often. Can that be true? A reputable shop doing it wrong? I have less than 3k miles on the Jeep since the control arms were installed. Most of those miles are on trail.

How can I fix my control arms? I was told to slide a drill in the zerk fitting hole and still out the plastic that was shoved up into the hole because of the lack of grease. What do you think?

Thank you very much.

-John

I'd call RK and run it by them

They come lubed and advise 000 grease for mx. You won't find any other than their expensive small tube and it's a notch above "oil" so I grease with 00. Either way, very tight tolerances and you won't even get a full pump in on the joints.

Agree with this and all the above.

John, if you ever see the inside of one of those joints, you'll understand. They have 2 races that encapslates the joint, and the grease track between those races is so narrow. There's no way regular grease can flow through that tiny channel which is why they say use 00 or even 000 grease. In the past i was even told gear oil would be fine if you could find a way to get it in there. Don't listen to the 2nd shop. That said, greasing those is a major pain in the ass.

Thanks guys. I will look into the thinner grease and see if I can do it myself. He said he used his grease gun at 170 psi and he could not get any grease in there. That makes sense if it takes a much thinner grease. Thanks guys.
