Default Control Arms skids?

I have been thinking about control arm skids - any thoughts on the extremeterrain ones? Price is right. Btw, JK is the light use rig - it's mainly for family exploring - my XJ is the trail rig.

the rear ones hold up well, the front ones are soft and get all bent out of shape. I will invest in some weld on front ones in the near future.

Bolt on light duty for <$100 probably not bad and would fit your use. If nothing else, helps spread the pressure a bit. In the rear, those lower brackets seem to bend pretty easily. I'd think the rear would help more so than the front.

LOL, we said opposite things. Both my rears bent really easily. Ended up putting on Evo RockStars. Never had a problem with the fronts bending even though I beat the crap out of em on rocks. Eventually ended up welding on full 1/4" Artec LCA brackets.

So from the sounds of it, not a bad deal but expect the skids to get bent with heavier use. I think I can live with that as when my use increases I will just fab something up and weld them on... For the time being time is at a premium and for $100 I can do with basic peace of mind

Welding is the biggest X factor. I mean, good 1/4" skids don't cost that much mroe, but if you can't weld you then have to search out and pay for that service. I'd bet that those would help a little bit, would spread the pressure of any contact, and would help hold the factory brackets in shape, especially just for little added protection with light wheelin. Just my opinion though.

If you can weld then go with 3*3" squares and burn them in. My fronts were a top priority and I didn't get a chance to do the rears until they looked like tacos spilling their guts. I cut the mount, moved it, and added the 3*3" to keep things true and protected.
