First, I am not buying a full set of 8. Out of the question....too expensive.

Knowing that, what would give me the best 'bang for the buck' ? I've seen everything on here - front uppers only, Rusty's special fronts, lower fron + lower rear, front lower + rear upper. I'm slightly confused and need your help.

Do front Lowers and rear uppers first, that is really all you need to correct caster or pinion angles. You need front uppers and rear lowers if you want to really dial everything in or center your axles.
Now for brands, I would recommend Rock Krawler. Essentially the same as teraflex, just cheaper. Ill be picking up a set soon.

 

Makes me wonder why my RK kit came with the four lowers. I guess it's b/c they assume you're going to get uppers, which I am, but its still strange.

Since I have an RK kit on order, I've wondered the same thing. In my head, I've just settled on that they're "high clearance" and be happy with 'em. When I need to compensate for a different drive shaft I'll get their uppers, too, or just go 3-link.

 

TF sells a kit that comes with front lowers and rear uppers I would imagine that is a good combo.

Oh cmon...two inches or less?? IMO no arms needed for less than 2" actual lift, but thats just me..I'm a minimalist.
