Default Cool Tech or MBPR off road exhaust???

I am looking to install an exhaust system on my 07 wrangler unlimited. I have decided between the Cool Tech and the MBPR off road system. They both bolt on so I can do it myself, both relocate the muffler, and both tips are tucked up high above the bumper for good ground clearance. I think they both sound pretty good and not ricey. The Cool Tech is $299 and I believe the cheapest MBPR exhaust is about the same price. The Cool Tech also comes with a heat shield for the muffler but I know a lot of guys on here are running the MBPR's and highly recommend them. I haven't seen much on the Cool Tech exhaust, anyone running one? Here are a few links to videos, which sounds better?

I'm a big fan of the MBRP, I may be biased, but I think it has the best tone at lower RPMs. With this engine I don't know if it's possible to not sound a little ricey in the higher RPMs, but the MBRP does seem to minimize it.

I am using my MBRP standard exit system, and it is the best sounding JK exhaust out there. The offroad system will have more grunt to it though.

Does the offroad version of the MBRP exhaust bolt right up? Does the evap canister have to be moved?

If you haven't already. Take a look/listen at my exhaust thread. I hope this helps.

I did feel a bit of more power when I added my MBRP system to my 2010 JK.

Don't know too much about the Cool Tech system...haven't seen or heard one and can't remember ever seeing one on the trails (doesn't mean they aren't good just my personal observation). As far as the MBPR goes I have seen them and actually had the opportunity to wheel with the MBPR guys in Moab and I can tell you that it would be the system I'd go with if I had to replace my Flowmaster. Awesome sound and from the specs the performance is there as well.

Good luck in your selection!

Ultimate low priced replacement...

18x4 Round Magnaflow, remove current system, get a new tailpipe bent with exit on Driver's side. Similar sound/performance then promoted in listed video's. Since you have an Unlimited you may not need Evap Relocate.

I have this set up on my 2Dr, no issues, quite a few people have done these exhaust relocate with good results.

On another note, if you like out of box kits, MBRP's is the cat's ass... Checked it out in a local shop. Matter of fact, used it to base my own swap.

Best of Luck in whatever you choose.

You really can't go wrong with our system...Direct fit, bolt on exhaust, with a nice deep tone and as much clearance as possible. If you have a 4 door unlimited you will not need to relocate the evap canister at all. We do offer a muffler skid plate as well which is available to protect our off road version exhaust.

Another thing to consider is welding a new muffler in place of the stocker and run a turndown tip that sits only a 1/2 inch lower than the bumper.

Here's a thread on that. I did something similar with a flowmaster and it rocked, but I eventually went to MBRP and do not regret it.

I installed the offroad relo version of the exhaust in no time, bolted right up. I never relocated the evap canister and haven't had an issue over a year later. Still sounds awesome too
