Not at all...The heat shield that comes w/the kit helps & there is ample clearance between the muffler & evap...Since then I've also added an Evap skid that seems to add some extra heat protection...

Came in today, took me about 45 minutes from opening the box till finish. Very quick install if you measure and cut the midpipe on the rig like suggested in some posts. Sawz-all makes it quick work. I also sawed off the nub on the muffler end to tuck the tailpipe in a little. Definately added some vibration under acceleratrion but that was expected as it went from the rear to under the seat. I love the fact I was able to use the clamps versus welding. Because the factory uses the same clamps I fugured it will last just as long. I'm still out on the sound and mileage aspect, I'll be taking it for a long drive tommorow and give some more input.

I didn't get any noticeable vibration, but the heat shield did rattle a bit. I tightened it down some and the problem went away.

Just a thought.

I did tighten it well and cut off the extra bit o' strapping. It's not really a vibration as much as it's just the extra "feel" that comes with having it under the seat area. I took it on a 120 mile trip to the coast today and it did great, I seemed to pick up at least 2 MPG over what I usually get going the same route. It seemed to sound better after running it for awhile and getting broke in. I like it and will be tracking mileage hoping it helps on my daily commute.

Ok, heres an update..
After driving around for a couple of days in the rain yesterday I had the chance to roll my window down and really listen to the exhaust. Lets just say after spending $300 it took awhile but I came to the conclusion that under acceleration and WOT it sounds like a minivan with a missing muffler. Definately not a ricer sound but more like the Dodge Caravan The nosie was almost non existant cruising along but very excessive in the cabin when hauling ash. Admitting defeat I just ordered a Hushpower2 which sounded awesome on the 4.0 in my WJ and I'm told would be comparable with the 3.8 My wife made the comment after hearing this that she never liked the sound of it anyway which was big as usually she has no opinion on things like that
The only good is I have a stainless tailpipe and clamps in which to install the new muffler. I guess I'm going to have to start a thread about the hushpowers now

I don't know why yours sounds like that. Mine has a deep sound that doesn't sound like a rice burner. It is quite while cruising. I do have a K&N drop in, that might change it alittle.
