Cooper Discoverer STT vs. BFG T/A KO???
Does anyone have any experience with the Cooper STT on snow/ice (on road)? I'm curious how they compare to the BFG T/A.
If they do as well (or nearly as well) as the BFG all terrain in snow/ice, I'd consider going with the Cooper in a 275/70 18 instead of the BFG 285/65 18. I'm guessing the Cooper would be a little taller, but a little narrower than the BFG... meaning it would be closer to the stock Bridgestone Dueller width and less likely to rub than the BFG (on stock wheels after raising the front end with a couple 3/4" spacers and longer shocks).
Anybody care to chime in on this?

I've got some 31" cooper stts on my 90 wagoneer and they do really well in the wet and snow. I havent had the bfg ats for 10 years so i wont comment on those. So far i have been very pleased with the coopers...this is all comming from a guy whose daily driver is an f250 with 37 toyos. (toyos are the god of MTs for a daily driver) The Coopers are much more affordable though... Both are siped well and thats what you want if you are worried about snow/ice/rain

Just my own personal prefece( take it for what you paid for it)
MT
1. Toyo MT
2. Cooper STT
3. MT MTZ
AT
1. Nitto Terra Grapler
2. BFG AT
3. Toyo AT/ MT ATZ

Wow TwinsJeep, I was minutes from posting the same question, but also throwing in the Cooper Discoverer S/T. Looks like we're on the same path here. I was also wondering if losing that extra bit of width would prevent rubbing.
"Cooper makes that 275/70r18 in a ST, STT, or a ATR.
ATR goes for - $ 447
ST goes for - $591
STT goes for - $447"
Yes, those are retail Canadian prices... meaning that each Cooper is at least $100 more than a BFG All Terrain... I'd rather put the money into levelling out the front end and getting longer front shocks if need be...
Do you know of any other All Terrain or similarly aggressive winter-road safe tire that is available in a 275/70 18?

I have the cooper's on my unlimited and they are great. Put the bfg's on first with the stock 18's and they did rub a little at a full turn. The biggest problem with the bfg on a jeep is that they ride like a tank. It is a 10 ply tire and the jeep doesnt weigh much. They also made the jeep wander on the highway. Bfg's are great tires I just think the coop's are a better fit!
ps My cooper stt's cost $221 per tire and the Bfg's $258.
