Question Cooper STT question ???

I haved been thinking about the Cooper STT's in a 295 70 17.
Basically a 33.5" 11.5" 17. AND Copper says I can still run them on the 7.5" wide OEM Rubi wheel!!

This size is perfect for the stock 4.10 gears in my Rubicon being that I live in the mountains and want to still be able to use ALL 6 gears.

The only concern I have is that I have heard rumors of them chunking badly when used in the rocks. Can ANYBODY out there confirm this to be true or false??

Thanks !

they are a great soft sticky tire that does great on the rocks but because of this, they will chunk a bit. not too bad in my opinion, but they do chunk a bit with hard play.

I have been considering the same tire/wheel combo. Do you plan on using spacers, lift, or both? I was hoping to get away with just a 2 inch lift.

Thanks

I have these on my cruiser in a 35/12.50r15. Not a ton of rocks in New England but we do have some! They have held up fairly well under a 6000 pound beast but do have some small chunks from the rocks.

I put them on a Dodge 2500 I was using for work in the hills around Eureka, UT in November. They were confident on slick, clay county mountain roads, lots of traction in loose overburden.

They were the OE size, they generate much more noise on road than the MTZ'z on my JK.

I have Full Traction's 3" Ultimate lift. With this size tire I think you would be fine with a 2 inch spacer or coil lift. I do NOT suggest using large spacers and longer coils.

They are ok in the rain, I think because of the siping. But they will hydroplane if you hit alot of standing water in the road way. I have 20,000 miles on mine now and they are wore somewhat and I have to watch it in the rain. For the first 20,000 m great in the rain, then they slowly depreciate. Other than that , they are great in mud and sand ( no rocks here so IDK) I would buy them again. Lookin at 37's now and would buy the coopers if they came in 37X13X17 or wider, but right now the 37's are 12.50.

they will wear out fast as well. The stickier they are the faster they wear.
