Default Could be wrong GAs mileage ?

So, everyone seems to get awesome mileage,(although I think everyone is lying lol) like im always hearing these high teens 18 19 mpg and some over in the 20's i have 3.21 x 4 door with 33 and most i see is 12.9 the speedo is obviously off because its suppose to be for 30.5 tires. so basically how do i figure out the exact milage and would a programmer really help the gas, i feel like it might. Anything else i should do to get the mileage up a little bit?

I would start by tracking your mileage the old fashioned way with pencil and paper for a few fillups.
That way you will find out what your true MPG is, then go from there.

A programmer will help your MPG some, but also reprogram your computer for the new tire size.
Some have been helped by intake and exhaust, too.

I agree with this. I do get 17-19 MPG hwy. 4.88 37s. I use my cruise control always. The city MPG is 15-16. When I tow it drops to 11.

.....but how is he going to know the exact mileage if he doesn't know how many miles he went if his speedo is still off.

There is a formula you could use to get close, some have gave it here but I wouldn't know off hand.

I got a lot of help from the flashpaq and CAI. Mileage "almost" went back to when it was stock. I hope to do a cat back exhaust someday soon as well. From all that has been mentioned the 3 together work wonders. BUT....if you do a lot of water you may want to rethink the CAI.

the difference between 30.5 in and 33 in tires is about 8%. So if your speedo says you drove 100 miles you really went about 108.

That said, it means your mpg as calculated is about 8% less than reality. But that still only brings you up from 13 to about 14 mpg.

If you are pretty much stock and aren't driving around with a lot of extra weight then I have to ask about 1) tire inflation and 2) lead foot?

when I drive with a heavy foot I get about 15 in the city. When I am more mellow I get 18+ city

On the highway there are are little green signs with numbers on them... conveniently about once a mile. The numbers are even in order so you can just note a starting and ending point.

Mine only started getting better gas mileage after it broke in really well and I moved to higher altitude.

get it. I used a procal on mine and it helped the shiftpoints and stuff too. plus I turned on my daytime running lights etc. You won't be sorry spending that 105.1
