Let me preface by saying it's before 6am here and I've been up all night, but...

I think the center of each wheel will be in the "same" spot, but the outside edge (what he's worried about if he's worried about which will stick out further) will stick out further on the 9" wide wheel.

Now, let's see if I got that right...

Don't want to hijack the thread, but did you have any issues with the wheels hitting the brake calipers? I heard that was an issue with the smaller rims.

You are correct. The outside edge of the WHEEL will stick out 1/2" farther. However, the outside edge of the TIRE will NOT stick out 1/2" farther. You will just have less "bulge" in the sidewall with a 9" wheel.

Let's say you put a 12.5" wide tire on either wheel. We already said the center of the wheel falls in the same spot. The tire is centered on the wheel. In both cases half the tire is going to stick out, 6.25" from the center.

Default mpg on cragar soft 8s?

in the market for a cheap new set of rims for my stock 07 stone white. i like the look of the cragars and they are pretty darn cheap. however, i am concerned about using heavier steel rims if they decrease gas mileage too much. anyone know how much their mpg fell when they put the cragars on their rig?

Is it better to have more of the actual tire sticking out (with the 17x8) if you don't have beadlocks.
