Default Crank position sensor

After getting halfway through a trail this weekend my Jeep died out of no where, wouldn’t turn on until 15 minutes after it sat, drove it straight home with engine codes and couple misfires. Codes showed up as multiple cylinder misfire, and crank position sensor circuit bad. Replaced the sensor today and went to start it up and heard a loud whining. Cut it off and pulled out the brand new sensor to find this. The Jeep ran great for about a minute with the new sensor in then it went back to misfiring a sputtering. No clue where to go from here or what could be cutting up my sensor. Any help appreciated

What year is your Jeep, and what is the part number of the sensor you used?

The part number is PC243 and it’s a 2008 Wrangler X 2 Door Manual Transmission

Compare the length of the old and new sensors. Your new one looks like it is too long and is rubbing on the flywheel tone ring.

They’re the same, I didn’t realize it before installing the new sensor that the old one looked exactly the same. They both have the same score mark on them.

Take one of your sensors to the dealer parts counter and see how it compares to one of theirs for a 2008 JK.
