I am getting new wheels. My question is concerning my perfectly good tires and the sizing.

Changing rim sizes also requires you to change your tire size. Period.

Nope ain't no way. Just ask anybody whose ever put a 16" tire on a 16.5" wheel. The outcome is rather disasterous.

I'm sorry, but that's one of the best ones I've ever heard.

Yeah, the "DO NOT PUT 16" TIRE ON 16.5" WHEEL!" warning is on most (if not all) 16" tires, isn't it?

I guess someone out there tried it at least once.

yea I did that once. my service manager didn't know they were16.5 wheels. mounted the tire, then tried to bead it. I put on the ground cause the machine stops at 60 psi. at about 80 the tire blew and knocked me back. wheel gave me a giant bruise on my leg and I couldn't hear for about ten minutes. warning are on the tire for a reason. never do that again

Yes, do what the women do when buying shoes, buy 15" wheels and call it 16". Actually they do just the opposite but you catch my drift.
