Cross Member and Gas Tank - HELP
Dealer called today and said my gas tank is crushed right at where the pump and sensor are at. It's why my fuel gauge is never correct and no longer shows a full tank after fill up. Dealer also said my cross member is crushed which has pushed my transmission up an inch or more. That caused a seal leak and driveline vibrations.
So I can spend $4k for them to fix all of that with stock parts. I want to do whatever I can myself and put in upgrades all along the way instead. A few questions.
I will want skids on my tranny, oil pan, etc. Is there a solution that replaces the cross member and provides the skid system? I looked at EVO since I've been thinking of getting that skid package from Northridge, but it doesn't seem to replace my cross member. So it seems I may still be screwed there with this product with having to get a stock cross-member before getting the skids. Do any other cross-member replacements work with the EVO system? I see that Clayton Offroad has a cross-member replacement that works with their other skids plates for tranny and oil, but I don't know if I like their skids. Anyone have experience combining the two?
Regarding the fuel tank. What options are out their besides stock replacement? Should I get the stock fuel tank and pump, then just put a real aftermarket skid plate on it?
I'm thinking I may need to spend the $600 to get the stock cross-member replaced and then buy skid plates. I think I then have to spend the $800 to just get the fuel tank/pump installed without a skid replacement. So, that's $1500 before I get into skid plates. There has to be a better solution here that is more protective and lower cost than stock replacements.
Another thought--how much of this could be dealer BS? My cross member is not that beat up compared to pics I'm seeing out there of other Jeeps. Could I really have jacked up my tranny with a big drop on a rock?
What do you guys think?

i'd take it somewhere else personally.
My gas tank skid is really beat up and my crossmember is definitely in horrible shape but I have no issues with driveline vibes....youre probably going to mangle the crossmember before you push it up into anything, it really isn't that stout to where it would push up before it crushes in.
my fuel tank never reads full either and i just had the dealer replace the tank under warranty for that reason. it still won't read full....so that wasn't the fix for mine. i'm just leaving it as I know it is full its just the stupid gauge that isn't reading correctly.
Personally i wouldn't spend a penny.
PSC does make a Xmember though.

Yup, I found that PSC last night and saw that it's an easy replacement to do myself. Dealer is not gonna replace the fuel tank under warranty so I'm probably screwed there. Are there any upgrade or aftermarket options for the tank that anyone is aware of?
