Default Crown Ball Joints..

To those running Crown ball joints..

My kit came with two castle nuts, one big and one small and some weird nut with threads on the outside of it? Are these the right parts?

Also are these better than stock. They are metal not plastic and seem more stout..

The two castle nuts are used.
One for the upper and one for the lower ball joint.
It will be obvious which is which as they only thread on one or the other.
The threaded piece is a mystery to me.
My club did a wrench fest last Saturday where my JK and anothers XJ
were treated to fresh ball joints.
Both kits came with the threaded piece and we couldn't figure out where they would go.
The only thing we could figure is they get used on another vehicle with the same ball joints.

That seems to be the case. You will notice the externally threaded piece has an internal taper that matches the ball joint stud. I believe it would be threaded into the knuckle hole to be sort of a self adjusting tapered hole in the knuckle. Not used on the JK, as the JK knuckle has two tapered holes for the ball joints.
