Crown SS Brake Line Caused Full Brake Failure w/ RK Lift
Just figured I would post this up for anyone ordering a lift with Crown SS brake lines. BE SURE TO CHECK THEY ARE NOT LEAKING. They were included with my RK 2.5" Flex lift. After four days, I had complete brake failure on my way to work, luckily I had just gotten off I-95 and was on a side road when they gave and was able to use my e-brake. The fitting at the top of the brake line was not fully crimped, when pressure was applied to the brakes fluid would leak out of the bottom of the fitting.
Luckily my shop Wicked Trails 4x4 here in Ft. Lauderdale did not hesistate to get a new brake line from their supplier at no charge to me and fixed the car (even though I did not originally order the part from them, and they had nothing to do with the failure). Here is a video showing how bad the leak got.

How did this not get noticed during the bleeding of the brakes after the installation? Just for the record I have these same brake lines installed for almost a year not had any issues like this.
The Crown SS brake line, Northridge or your RK lift had nothing to do with your brake failure it was the shop that did the crappy install.
Also nice to know the Wicked Trails 4x4 was nice enough to order you replacement parts on them and fix your jeep for free when they had nothing to do with the parts or install. Very strange but good on them.

Yeah, glad your okay. I'm sure that's why all the manufacturers put warnings on their products telling us to check things within so many miles. They are trying to limit their liability. I always check this kind of stuff because I'm anal about dying...

The line was installed properly, and was tight.I agree it is not RK fault, but I know these are included with their lifts, so wanted to make people aware who recently purchased one incase a bad batch of lines was produced. This happens, a machine can get out of spec, there can be a lapse in QC etc.
I have modified enough cars to know that shit happens. My intent was to make people aware whom have recently purchased a kit with these lines so they could thoroughly test them for safety.

Yes I agree it shouldn't have happened. Looking at the video one would think who ever installed it would have noticed the defect. At least most would.
As for a shop that had nothing to do with the parts or the install going out of it's way to fix it for free, now that I don't follow the logic.
Glad you got it fixed...

I did not order the parts from them.
They did install it, the line was tight. What I meant was the manufacturing defect that caused the failure had nothing to do with them. It would have failed if I installed it, or anyone else for that matter, it was not installer error. As part of the install, you are supposed to bring the car back within 250 miles for check up, but the line did not make it that far.
