Default Cutting for 38s

Just put the new shoes on following the dynatrac pro grip brake install, coming from 37 inch super swamper radials, everything was free and clear, rock rails cut and pinch seam trimmed back. Now these 38s seem like I have more work to do. how much more pinch seam can I remove? I have 4.72 inches of backspacing on my pro comps. The new tires are Goodyear wrangler MTRs. The lift is a 6 in TF LCG w Speedbumps. Thanks for any advice.

How about, no one can tell you exactly how much you need to cut. You have to cycle the suspension and check for yourself.

This, exactly. I'll be shocked if you don't have some serious clearance issues in the front with the tires hitting the frame at compression. Even with 3.5" back space and 37" MTRs, my tires hit the frame on both sides and the front grill when turning at full compression.

I think you are going to need some wheel spacers and probably more steering stop at the least, especially if those are the 38x14.5 variety

How did those GY 38's balance? I had them in 35" and they never balanced and one was out of round. I've been running 37" Toyos which are amazing, but I want to step up to 38's when the Toyos wear out.

38" tires are very limited right now, the MTR/K seems to be the only one available anywhere I'm nervous about going down that road again...

Im running GY 38's and mine balance ok. 2 of them took almost no weights at all and the rest definitely took a couple. One was especially bad and took a TON of weights so I'm running that one as my spare.
Hope that helps

Thanks for the info. Your experience kind of echoes mine, 1 out of 5 tires very hard to balance except the 5th one for me was actually out of round. When I ran it up front I actually had death wobble a few times which is something I never had before or since.
