Default Cutting coil springs

Hey everyone, has anyone cut their coil springs? Or is it even a good idea? Do I have to change anything else like the shocks?

Not a good idea. Why do you want to cut them?

It depends on the coil- it could work but you certainly don't want to cut progressive coils

Depending on what type of spring it is, they may have different spring rates at top and bottom (progressive). So cutting a section out of the spring could make it ride harder or softer. Make the spring uneven. Make one spring taller or shorter than the rest. Just a few things I could see going wrong with cutting them. Just go buy some new ones. It'll be a lot easier for you.

Why are you going to lower it lower than stock? What is the lift law where you are? If max lift on your vehicle is say 3 inches, then just buy 3 inch springs?
